St Mary's Church - The Nave (1820)

A digital (3D) reconstruction of the nave of St Mary's Collegiate Church, Youghal, Co. Cork, showing how it may have looked in 1820. The nave and aisles are lined with box pews and galleries to accommodate more worshippers. The long objects on the floor in the centre of the nave are radiators, part of the church's earliest central heating system.

How this image was made

Software and tools used: Blender 3D, Cycles Render Engine, Photoshop

Notes: I collaborated on this project with local historians David Kelly and Alicia St Leger. The image was rendered from a 3D computer model illustrating the church's architectural development from 1250 to the present day. My primary reference for the 1820 reconstruction view was an engraving published in the Dublin Penny Journal in 1836.
