A reconstructed view of Ardrossan Parish Church as it might have looked in 1540. It was blown down by a violent storm in 1691. Only the foundations remain today. The church measures 19.5m by 7.8m. The walls are of ashlar masonry. In this view of the south side of the church, I show the building coated in a bright white exterior harling or rendering. There were possibly two doors: a larger one provided access to the nave, and a priest's door, a smaller one at the church's east or chancel end. Small, vertically aligned windows on the south elevation probably illuminated a chancel screen and rood painting inside the church.
