Duffus Castle - Motte and Bailey Castle (1151)

Speculative digital reconstruction of Duffus Castle, Morayshire, showing what the first motte-and-bailey castle built by Freskin de Moravia, a Flemish nobleman and engineer, might have looked like in 1151. At this time, the castle was built of timber and was only replaced by a stone castle in the fourteenth century. This reconstruction shows the castle in Loch Spynie - a large lagoon drained in the nineteenth century by engineer Thomas Telford.

About the images in my portfolio

You may notice subtle shapes and patterns in some of the images in my online portfolio, affecting their visual quality. I am experimenting with free tools developed by researchers at the University of Chicago to help artists protect their work from unauthorised AI training. It subtly alters images in ways that are almost invisible to people but can confuse AI models, making it much harder for them to learn and reproduce an artist's distinctive style.
